RED SEA

Map Red Sea & Sinai

The Red Sea is the place where thousands of divers from across the world come to experience its unique bio-diversity and stunning wrecks. As the closest tropical sea to Europe the Red Sea makes the perfect choice for both new and experienced divers looking for exceptional value and superb diving.

The tropical waters sustain an overwhelming variety of marine flora and fauna, with more than a thousand species of fish feeding amongst the spectacular coral. So what makes this slender body of water that divides the African and Arabian land masses, so attractive to divers? The answer is temperature. Reef building corals live on a temperature edge which thrives between 19 and 28 Celsius degrees, the exact range found in the Red Sea.

Crystal clear, nutrient poor water adds to the paradise conditions that have created a sea laden with life that contrasts so greatly with the barren desert landscape above. Much of the diving is centred on the northern in Egypt and Israel where dive resorts have flourished. Such resorts are Sharm el Sheikh, Dahap, El Gouna, Marsa Alam, Hurghada and many others. All of them offer divers modern facilities, plenty of accommodation and a variety of diving activities with of course, access to the best diving in the region.

Some of the most famous dive sites in the world are found here. Such sites are Ras Mohammed, The Wrecks of the Thistlegorm and Dunraven, the Straits of the Tiran and many others. All are located in one small patch of sea where the Red Sea splits into the Gulfs of Suez and Aqaba.

Conditions are more than perfect for diving. The water is clear and warm all year, there is plenty of shelter from the prevailing weather and the marine life that has developed is second to none.

Turtles, sharks, giant groupers, mantas, jackfish, coral reef fish of every colour and hue, hard corals, soft corals and wrecks are all commonly seen.

SHARM EL SHEIKH

Sharm el Sheikh is possibly the most spectacular diving area in the Red Sea. With some 40 miles of reef, it is richly endowed with dramatic coral drop-offs, aquamarine bays and coral formations unparalleled in the world. World –famous dive sites include Ras Mohammed, Tiran Island and the wrecks of the SS Thistlegorm and the Dunraven. Sharm is the ideal location for divers and holiday makers alike. The climate is warm and sunny in the winter and hot in the summer. The water is warm and can be dived in a wet suit at any time of the year.

Naama Bay is the resort centre, a bustling hive of hotels, restaurants, shops and bars. The atmosphere is always friendly and relaxed.

RED SEA LIVEABOARDS

Do you want to get away from the crowds and all you really care about is diving? Are you serious about diving? Do you want to reach into the most spectacular and remote areas of the Red Sea, away from the resort towns? Then you want a liveaboard.

Scuba Diving Cruises (Liveaboards) undoubtedly offer the most convenient way for the serious diver to visit the most spectacular sites. Liveaboard enables you to better manage your dive schedules, giving you much more time to explore distant coral reefs and not so frequented dive sides.

Completely self-contained, these vessels allows divers to maximise their underwater opportunities whilst minimising travel time. The biggest asset is that you live above the dive sites! The majority of liveaboards include 2-4 dives a day (sometimes even 5)! You can expect high standard of living with spacious cabins, air-conditions and good food. Some of the most recent built yachts even have a Jacuzzi!

Liveaboard are great for groups of friends and especially for lone travellers, as there will be the chance to meet likeminded people who share your interest as a diver. The crew will be devoted to your overall enjoyment, organising launches, dinners and small parties. For many, liveaboards provide the complete dive experience. There is nothing like having a beer and watching the sun set after a full day of spectacular diving.
